Comfort’s story
In Nigeria, Comfort Oluwaleke was introduced to Multiplication Network’s training and resources. She said the training ignited a strong desire to engage more fervently in ministry.
The impact of Multiplication Network’s training first became evident in her youth ministry. Comfort explains that she had only two young people regularly participating before completing the training. However, once she began to apply what she learned, Comfort’s youth ministry quickly multiplied and grew to 20 members! She was so excited to see how effective the training was for her ministry.
Comfort’s training also gave her a new boldness and confidence as she spread the Gospel in her community. She shares how she stepped far outside of her oikos to reach a group called Masquerades. This group is dedicated to pagan practices and festivals with deep cultural/religious roots. According to traditional and ancestral beliefs, Masquerades are not ordinary men. Rather they are believed to be “spirits” who possess great powers (demonic). Most of us would feel that engaging with these men would be far outside our comfort zone. Yes?! Also, it is “taboo” for women to come near or be associated with them; however, Comfort fearlessly reaches out to these individuals through the power of Jesus. Comfort, along with other Christians in the area, brings the love of Jesus to everyone in her community, even in the face of great danger.
As Comfort regularly shares the Good News, the Masquerades have become more open to listening to her. She is grateful that her training helped her to push beyond the security and comfort of her initial oikos for a much greater spiritual impact on her community.
