Yessy’s story

Yessy is a female pastor, originally from Bolivia, who said “Yes!” to God’s call to start new churches. Someone told her that in 12 days she would go to Spain and start churches there – and it happened! To date, Yessy has started churches in Mallorca, in Barcelona, and now in Madrid. She begins with open-air evangelism, striking up conversations with people she meets on the street and inviting them to church and/or Bible studies.

Yessy tried to join an all-male pastoral association in Spain, but they marginalized her and pushed her aside. When asked how she responded to this treatment, she simply said, “I prayed for them.” After one meeting she stayed behind with three men and explained that she held a pastoral degree. She shared the work she was doing to start new churches in Spain and these men began to accept her.

Yessy’s life and ministry is centered on prayer. Before she and others go out to share the Gospel, they pray. She prays for hearts to be open to the Good News, for protection, and for the Lord of the Harvest to bring the workers.

When asked if she is ever afraid, Yessy immediately replied, “No! Why would I be afraid to do what God has told me to do?”

Yessy mentors Isabel who shares the legacy of prayer that Yessy has passed on to her. When Yessy left Spain to attend a conference and visit family in Bolivia, Isabel oversaw the work of the church. Yessy saw Isabel’s God-given potential and mentored her to take on a leadership role in the church. Yessy’s Multiplication Network trainer, Xaon, encourages her to nudge Isabel to take the Multiplication Network church planter training, too.

Yessy said the training has given her a good foundation for operating a church. She printed the training materials and keeps it as a book to reference. She is focused on ensuring her work is effective and efficient, and the training helps her achieve this.

Yessy’s longevity, perseverance, and strength reminds us of Anna!
